Meet Dr. Shin
David D. Shin, MD, RVT, RPVI, FACS
Dr. Shin is a Vascular Surgeon who is board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine. Dr. Shin is an expert in current innovative procedures in vascular surgery and minimally invasive endovascular techniques. He specializes in treating varicose veins and venous disease.
He earned his undergraduate degree at The Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. He completed both his General Surgery and Vascular Surgery residency training at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Shin is a registered vascular technologist (RVT) and a registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI). He is capable of performing and interpreting his own vascular ultrasound studies.
Dr. Shin is a member of many prestigious vascular and vein organizations. These include the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Venous Forum, and the American Vein and Lymphatic Society.
Dr. Shin is the medical director of “Houston Vein Specialists”, a specialty vein center located in the Texas Medical Center. He is able to perform the most advanced minimally invasive vein procedures in his clinic for treating all types of varicose veins and spider veins without the need for intravenous anesthesia. Dr. Shin has performed over 10,000 successful saphenous vein ablations for treating varicose veins and venous stasis ulcers.
